Rationale

Trevett McCandliss and Nancy Campbell assigned me to design a poster on a current U.S. issue, so I chose pollution. In 2021, the poster design was submitted to Graphis for the New Talent Annual Contest and won Gold. Gold-winning designs were published in the Graphis New Talent Annual Book.

Inspiration

I’ve always hated the idea of pollution; seeing people litter has always gotten under my skin. During the ideation phase for this poster, I wanted it to profoundly impact people when they viewed it. I collected a container in my home, garbage, Gatorade, water, and some dirt from outside. I combined all of these elements to form the illusion of trash in a body of water. Needless to say, I’m thrilled with the end result.
